Health: If your child is ill, please do not bring him/her to class. If your child has been sick but is feeling better, be sure he/she has been without fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours.
Watching class: For the benefit of the students, classes are closed to parents and other visitors. However, you will have the opportunity to see your dancer/tumbler in action at the Christmas Program and the recital in late May. If a prospective student is trying class, the parent or guardian will be asked to wait in the waiting area just outside the dance room.
Class placement and curriculum: The instructor will make the decision about a student's readiness for class and the curriculum content and progression of skills.
Performing: Students will be performing in the fall, in the Christmas Program, and in the end-of-the-year recital.
Withdrawing from class: Please fill out and turn in a withdrawal form by the 15th of the current month to cancel your membership and avoid billing on the 1st of the following month. Forms are available at the studio counter or on the parent portal. Once filled out, please return the form to Mrs. Deanna so it can be recorded properly.
Dismissal: The Dance Factory reserves the right to dismiss a child/family if there are behavior issues, disrespectful attitude, problems adhering to the rules/policies of the studio, or if fees have not been paid.

Rehearsal and Recital: Each dance year culminates in a themed event featuring beautiful costumes, professional lighting and sound. It's always a big hit! Our show will be held at the Henderson Fine Arts Center - McCormick Hall. More information will be given out in March/April regarding t-shirts, tickets, DVDs, rehearsals, etc. Rehearsal is mandatory for performance.
Recital costumes: We order costumes early to get them in time for any alterations that might be needed. Costumes payments will be processed on December 1. Costumes are expected to cost approximately $75 for child sizes and $85 for adult sizes. After the order is placed, there will be a binder on the counter which outlines how hair should be styled for recital, the color of tights needed, and any other special instructions. Be sure to take a look!
Recital Seating for students: Students will sit with their group backstage at the recital for the entire show, regardless of their age. They will not be able to sit with family in the audience after performing. At these shows, we ask that all parents stay in the audience rather than come into the student section or backstage. (Exception: Adult dancers, My Buddy and Me, TKD performers)
Participation in the shows: If a student will not be in one of the shows, please let the teacher know as soon as possible so that she can re-work the routine for one less student. If at all possible, students should be encouraged to finish the commitment that has been made to the teacher, the other students, and the show. It is unfair to everyone to have someone drop out after the routine is finished. That changes everyone's part.
Taking class but not performing: While performing is part of your training, it's not the only part. Dancers should finish the year whether or not they are doing the show. Not finishing the year will affect dance technique and could possibly affect placement for the following season.

Be on time to class.
Follow the dress code.
Be prepared for class.
Use the restroom before/after class.
Use your inside voice.
Be polite and respectful.
Listen to the teacher.
Follow directions.
Take turns.
Watch quietly until it's your turn.
Keep your hands to yourself.
Make attendance a priority.
While fun, dance class/rehearsal is a commitment. Do your best to honor your commitment.
Try your hardest. "I can't" is a bad word at The Dance Factory. (two words, I guess)
Practice DAILY.
Change into your street shoes when leaving the studio.
Trust your teacher's judgement about class content and placement.
